Fuel Levy
As a road user, you are undoubtedly aware of the instability in fuel pricing. Fuel is the second largest expense within the Road Freight Industry. Given constant and immediate fluctuations, the following fuel surcharge policy provides clarification to existing systems and mechanisms in place, and ensures sustainable financial viability within our business whilst maintaining quality service levels without compromise.
Analysis has shown that a 5 cent per litre (cpl) increase in fuel cost equates to a 1.55% increase in the cost of completing the transport component of a job. Our current rates are structured on a diesel fuel price of 100 cents per litre. Therefore a fuel price increase above 100 cpl would require a 1.55% adjustment, above 105 cpl a further 1.55% adjustment, above 110 cpl a further 1.55% adjustment and so on (refer attached documentation – Fuel Levy Template) The fuel levy percentage will be calculated on the basis of the below; On the 1st day of each month, we will determine the previous four (4) week average national pricing of diesel fuel using published Australian Institute of Petroleum pricing information. National average diesel pricing can be verified at www.aip.com.au/pricing/retail/diesel/index.htm. Once determined, the adjusted fuel levy percentage will be updated on our main page . All movements invoiced on from the 1st day of each month will in turn attract the adjusted + / - fuel levy.
